KATELYN REA

Lactation Consultant (In Progress), & Registered Nurse Psychotherapist

In-Person & Virtual Appointments

Whether you're anxiously awaiting your baby's arrival, unsure of what to expect, or navigating the challenges of newborn care, breastfeeding, and the postpartum season; I'm here to provide compassionate guidance and tailored support. Together, we'll ensure your little one experiences a safe and nurturing transition from womb to world, while you and your partner embrace parenthood with confidence, resilience, and ease.

As a Registered Nurse with 14 years of diverse clinical expertise, my passion lies in Maternal Newborn and Family Care. Throughout my career in the Maternal-Child and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I witnessed firsthand the high anxiety and fears many new parents experienced when leaving the hospital with minimal guidance, education, or follow-up support. Common concerns usually involved infant feeding, particularly breastfeeding, and understanding how to recognize their infants’ cues and best soothe their needs. Through education, informed decision-making, and mindset coaching, my clients gain the clarity and self-belief needed to achieve their postpartum goals and nurture their newborns every baby step of the way. Through 1:1 coaching or group classes to include "Breastfeeding 101 and Beyond" and “The Baby B's – A 10 Step Newborn Care Program", parents will feel more confident, independent, knowledgeable, and successful in their parenting abilities and overall postpartum experience.

With a holistic and culturally sensitive approach, we will co-create an individualized care plan for you, your newborn, and your partner, as well as a tailored feeding plan to best support your infant’s needs. I will also help you craft a personalized toolkit to maintain resilience during the challenging moments. My support offers a safe space for you to be seen, heard, and gently guided with respect, professionalism, and compassion and my commitment is to walk alongside you in your unique parenting journey every step of the way.

Experience

Katelyn embarked on her nursing career in 2010, caring for sick and premature infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, while attending many specialized courses in infant health, before transitioning to the Maternal-Child Unit in 2011. Over the next 12 years, she provided compassionate care to antenatal and postnatal parents, focusing on breastfeeding education and infant care, while offering holistic postpartum support.

In 2015, she expanded her horizons earning a bachelor’s degree in education and began working as an Occasional Elementary School Teacher, instructing students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, alongside her nursing career. As a passionate mental health advocate, Kate took her Master Coach Practitioner Certification in 2018, and has since incorporated self development, mindset coaching, and self-reflective practices into her work with parents and children, encouraging strong relationship building within the family for all to thrive from.

Katelyn’s passion for family support and health education led her to develop and teach her own breastfeeding and newborn care courses within the community for several years. In March of 2024 she expanded her reach, by teaching online postpartum and breastfeeding courses to large audiences across Canada for The Baby Academy. Currently, she is scheduled to complete her certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant this September 2024, to further enhance her breastfeeding support for the parents and infants she passionately serves.
